THE OUTRO
Captured at Dorothy Alberta
Purchase one of nine prints
All copies are signed and are printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl 285gsm
I took this in October 2021 at the historical United church in Dorothy, AB. The church is located next to a dark sky area, and I wanted to go out there to capture the aurora. The night skies were clear, and when the aurora didn't show, I took photos of the stars. I like how the light from the surrounding houses illuminates the far side of the church steeple with orange light contrasting against the cold night sky. The back side of the Milky Way is hardly ever captured, and I love how it looks with the steeple.
This image was created using 5 light frames with the meteors added back in from their individual frames in post-production. The awe captured in this image reminds me of the song "The Outro" by M83, hence the image's name.
Mossleigh P&H Grain Elevator #1
Captured in Mossleigh, Alberta
Purchase one of eight prints
All copies will be signed and printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl 285gsm
I took this at sunrise in October 2021. Mossleigh, AB has three beautifully refurbished grain elevators. I am drawn to the P&H elevator. I love the warm cream colour of the elevator and the logo feels very western to me. Grain elevators have a long history in Alberta, but they are slowly being lost as they age. I am happy that Mossleigh has refurbished these and hopefully, they will stand for many more decades.
Hoodoo #6
Captured in Dinosaur Provincial Park
Purchase one of ten prints
All copies will be signed and printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl 285gsm
I took this in December 2023 during the Geminids meteor shower. With the new moon, the hoodoos were cold and quiet.
This image was created using 75 light frames with the meteors added back in from their individual frames in post-production.
Sunrise at Crowfoot Glacier
Captured in Dinosaur Provincial Park
Purchase one of ten prints
All copies will be signed and printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl 285gsm
Captured at sunrise in February 2022 at Bow Lake, AB. By the time I was able to take these photos, I was stuck using my 100-400mm lens as all my other gear had frozen, and I couldn't even use the focus adjuster. I always love the results from my telephoto for landscape photos. The images from this style always feel intimate to me.
In this shot, I love the colours in the sky and the hints of blue from the glacial ice. Additionally, I love how the early sunlight gently illuminates the snow. It feels very soft and comfortable.
Captured around 3:00 am in February 2022 at Bow Lake, AB. Bow Lake is one of the closer dark sky sites (BZ 2). I love coming here at night for photos; it is so quiet, and it feels ethereal.
The sky didn't have any clouds, and thankfully, there was no wind. The core of the Milky Way was starting to peek out from Crowfoot Mountain. It was very cold that morning at -40 centigrade. By the time the sun was coming up, most of my gear was frozen.
This photograph was created from 50 light frames and 30 dark frames, which were all stacked and aligned. The total capture length for this image is 8 min.
